The Puisano Jazz Programme, under the auspices of The
Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation
first initiated in 2001, is aimed at promoting live
jazz performances in communities and to develop a culture
of jazz appreciation as an art form in townships.
Aspiring, unsigned Jazz bands are invited to audition
to be selected as part of the roving jazz program, and
these new talents are showcased at various venues from
November through to April .
The Puisano Live Performance Programme successfully
stages about fifteen live shows, features eight bands
selected from the initial approximnately 35 entries
and brings countless enjoyment to hundreds of Gauteng
jazz lovers.
