Joy of Jazz marks over a decade of putting South Africa on the international jazz map. The annual fest attracts an audience of 20 000, across 7 venues in Johannesburg's buzzing Newtown Cultural precinct.
 
With an international line-up of top artists, and an exciting mix of home-grown talent,Joy of Jazz has contributed to the cultural exchange between artists and many international performers have met their local counterparts and subsequently collaborated on various projects.
 
Importantly, Joy of Jazz has also seen a phenomenal growth in the number of developing jazz artists who have been given exposure and a platform on which to perform.
 
The staging of the Joy of Jazz in the Newtown Precinct has played an integral part in the regeneration of the inner city, having had significant benefits in helping to shape the future of Johannesburg, and contributing to the city's changing creative and cultural landscape.

JAZZ BY THE RIVER
DICKENSON PARK, VEREENIGING
 
2010 Spring saw the 15th edition of South Africa’s pioneer of outdoor festivals, the Jazz By The River
 
The festival forms part of the Vaal River Carnival, a month long series of sport, recreation, arts and entertainment activities to promote leisure and tourism in the Vaal. It is supported by the Sedibeng and Emfuleni Municipalities, local business and the Vaal community to promote the region.
 
Although the festival is only 15 years young, it has built a string following and fan base.
 
The festival brings top-class entertainment to the region, and many benefits associated with such events. These benefits include but are not limited to:
- Local arts and culture development;
- Economic development;
- Job creation;
- Tourism development; and
- Civic pride and social cohesion.
 
Through music workshops for local bands and selling opportunities for local vendors, the local population of Sedibeng and Emfuleni gained real benefits – thereby justifying the investments made.

One of South Africa’s quintessential outdoor festivals – The Jazz in The Park - is set to return to outdoor festival haven, Moretele Park.
