COLORS OF AFRICA
Colors of Africa is made up mainly of Portia on bass and Nthabiseng on saxophone.
These two dynamic women met each other whilst studying music at FUBA and Gauteng Music Academy. Wanting to prove that girls can do it just well if not better than boys, they quickly formed a band and have been playing together since 2002.
With a major influence by Mpho Mabogwane, this band plays contemporary jazz, African jazz, original music as well as cover music.
Colors of Africa has played at the 2008 Vuna Awards, the Joy of Jazz festival and the Moshito Music conference. They also had an opportunity to share a stag with the likes of Mary J Blige, Mariah Carey, Ashford and Simpson and Gloria Bosman when they played a private function for Oprah Winfrey at Sun City.
This band is energetic, talented and determined. They are going places fast
